Recap: Highland Scots vs. Eastside Lions
The Highland Scots waltzed into Monday's matchup with eight straight wins but they left with nine. They escaped with a win against Eastside by the margin of a single free throw, 44-43. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Highland has scored all season.
Eastside's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Max Meza, who scored 17 points, and Malachi Garvin who scored 12 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Meza scored 15 or more points.
Highland pushed their record up to 10-1 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.6 points per game. As for Eastside, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.
Highland won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Arvin at 6:30 p.m. on December 12th. Arvin will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1100th, while Highland is ranked 406th). As for Eastside, they will head out on the road to face off against Littlerock at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
