After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Burlington, Waterford was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Whitnall Falcons by a score of 3-1. For the Wolverines, this counts as revenge for the 2-0 victory the Falcons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Waterford had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 15-25, 26-24, 25-19, 25-22.

Evie Hoffman paced Waterford's offense, picking up nine kills. Hoffman got some help from Maddy Monte and her 23 assists. Monte was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Waterford's win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-7. As for Whitnall, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Waterford will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Wilmot at 6:30 p.m. on the 23rd. As for Whitnall, they will take on Watertown in a tournament on Saturday.
