Baseball Game Preview: Whitney Young Dolphins vs. Chicago Washington Patriots

The Whitney Young Dolphins will venture away from home to square off against the Chicago Washington Patriots at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Whitney Young is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.

Whitney Young proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by 12) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Payton College Prep, sneaking past 7-5. Surprisingly, this marked the Dolphins' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Whitney Young got a great performance from Charlie Hockman as he struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). The Dolphins are 4-1 when Hockman allows one or fewer earned runs, but 7-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Marcus Garton was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Arnie Rosenband was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Chicago Washington fell victim to Morgan Park and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Mustangs, falling 6-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Patriots have suffered since May 25, 2024.

Whitney Young now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Chicago Washington, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.
