Softball Recap: Wareham Takes a Loss

Wareham dropped down to 6-6 on Wednesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Monomoy Sharks by a score of 5-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Sharks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-3 back in April.

As for Monomoy, their win bumped their record up to 14-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since March 30th.

For Monomoy's part, Kinsey Lister spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. Lister has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lexi Totten, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kiley Mawn, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Wareham will venture away from home to square off against Sandwich at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Monomoy, they will head out on the road to take on Bourne at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
