Softball Recap: Lone Star Makes It 11 in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for Lone Star, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They were the clear victor by a 7-0 margin over the Turner Lions on Tuesday. The Rangers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Lairyn Bell, who gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks to keep Turner off the board. Those six strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Bell.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brooke Wooten, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Edgett, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Wooten wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Lone Star kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. Lone Star is 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Lone Star pushed their record up to 10-6-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Turner, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season.

Lone Star and Turner could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Lone Star (ranked 266th) will meet Wakeland (ranked 106th) at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Turner will take on Reedy at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday down 473 places (743 vs. 270).
