Connecticut vs. Massachusetts Won't Happen at Fenway

The Connecticut High School Coaches Association will send a baseball team of graduated seniors to play a Massachusetts all-star squad Saturday at Hudson (Mass.) High School at 2 p.m. The game had been scheduled for Fenway Park, but the Boston Red Sox wanted it played July 8 and Connecticut representative Ken Kezer (New Britain) thought that would be too late in the season, so the venue was changed.

The state players include recent pro draftees Matt Harvey of Fitch-Groton, Bill Bono of Waterford and Curt Casali of New Canaan. Harvey is a pitcher, Casali is a catcher and Bono does some of each (he was drafted as a pitcher).

The rest of the squad includes Mike Baccaro, Berlin, infielder; Mike Bartlett, St. Joseph-Trumbull, outfielder; Maxx Catapano, Fairfield-Warde, pitcher; Jordan English, Windsor Locks, outfielder; Ben Farina, Waterford, outfielder; Matt Govoni, Southington, pitcher; Jesse Hahn, Fitch-Groton, pitcher; Evan Jones, Killingly, outfielder; Ryan McGrath, Newtown, infielder; Mark Micowski, Xavier-Middletown, outfielder; Mike Olt, Branford, infielder; Max Russell, Amity Regional-Woodbridge, pitcher; Mike Sciarretta, Stamford, infielder; Tyler Turgeon, St. Bernard-Uncasville, infielder and Jack Wagoner, Northwest Catholic-West Hartford, pitcher.
