Basketball Recap: Tonopah Comes Up Short

After soaring to 55 points the game before, Tonopah was a bit more limited in their match on Saturday. They took a hard 44-26 fall against the Pahranagat Valley Panthers. The Muckers were probably out for revenge after losing 53-23 to them when the teams met back in December of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the defeat, Tonopah saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Landen Blackburn dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds. With that strong performance, Blackburn is now averaging an impressive 8.3 boards per game.

Even though they lost, Tonopah smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Tonopah now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Pahranagat Valley, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-7.

Tonopah will be playing at home against Lund at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Pahranagat Valley, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-34 win against Liberty Baptist Academy on the 6th.
