Baseball Recap: Bayfield Drops Highest Score of Season Against South Shore

Bayfield extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 19 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-9 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the South Shore Cardinals. On the bright side, the seven- run performance marked the Trollers' highest-scoring game to date.

Sam Adams made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last four times he's played.

As for South Shore, they moved to 3-10 with that victory, which also ended their seven-game losing streak. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since April 18, 2024.

On South Shore's side, Hayden Meritz made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Meritz was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, South Shore got a big performance out of Blue Madison, who went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave Madison a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Eddie Pudas, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three runs.

While Bayfield had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
