Recap: Westwood Longhorns vs. Union City Golden Tornadoes
The Westwood Longhorns and the Union City Golden Tornadoes squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Westwood Longhorns had to settle for second. Westwood had to suffer through a rough 62-6 loss at the hands of Union City. While losing is never fun, Westwood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 301st, while Union City is ranked 141st).
Jordan Irvin threw for 191 yards on nine of 21 attempts. Corey Carr II was his top target, picking up 110 receiving yards.
Westwood has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Union City, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-3.
Westwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Union City will head out on the road to face off against Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
