Basketball Recap: Fayette Gets the Win

Fayette's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They walked away with a 52-43 victory over the North Callaway Thunderbirds. This was payback for the Falcons, who suffered a 56-41 loss the last time these two teams met.

North Callaway's loss came despite strong showings from Lakyn Hartley and Natalie Shryock. Hartley went 5 of 9 en route to 11 points and five steals, while Shryock went 6 for 15 on her way to 15 points. That's the most steals Hartley has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Livia Hartley, who posted six points in addition to nine rebounds and three steals.

Fayette has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 4-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points per game. As for North Callaway, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Fayette wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 54-8 win against New Bloomfield on the 21st. As for North Callaway, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-37 victory against Wellsville-Middletown on the 21st.
