Basketball Recap: Shannon Payne and Cody Leon Secure Win for Cuyahoga Falls

The Cuyahoga Falls Black Tigers narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Stow-Munroe Falls Bulldogs 49-46. This was payback for the Black Tigers, who suffered a 53-51 loss the last time these two teams met.

Cuyahoga Falls was led to victory by Cody Leon and Shannon Payne. Leon went 9 of 13 en route to 22 points, while Payne went 6 for 7 on his way to 13 points and seven rebounds. The game was Leon's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Johnson, who posted six points and three steals.

Cuyahoga Falls now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Stow-Munroe Falls, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-1.

Cuyahoga Falls will venture away from home to challenge Tallmadge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Tallmadge will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Cuyahoga Falls surely won't give up without a fight. As for Stow-Munroe Falls, they will square off against Wadsworth at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Stow-Munroe Falls is facing Wadsworth at the right time seeing as Wadsworth is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
