Baseball Game Preview: Lima Central Catholic Thunderbirds vs. Wapakoneta Redskins

The Lima Central Catholic Thunderbirds will take on the Wapakoneta Redskins at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While Lima Central Catholic's victory against Parkway wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Thunderbirds narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Panthers 7-6. The Thunderbirds haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Wapakoneta strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past Celina 12-1.

Drew Bailey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Bailey was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Wapakoneta got a massive performance out of Grant Jolly, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jarrett Mullen, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3.

Wapakoneta was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Celina only posted a batting average of .133.

Lima Central Catholic's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Wapakoneta, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Lima Central Catholic was able to grind out a solid win over Wapakoneta in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 6-3. Will the Thunderbirds repeat their success, or do the Redskins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
