The Half Moon Bay Cougars will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Willow Glen Rams at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with 13 defeats in a row dating back to last season, Half Moon Bay turned things around against Cupertino on Monday. They came out on top against the Pioneers by a score of 7-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Cougars not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 7, 2024.
Kai Kung spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 13 Ks. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jason Couto, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gio Ormando, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Willow Glen, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Ann Sobrato a 5-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Spencer Bartlinski made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched. Bartlinski was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Bartlinski wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Miles Austin, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.
Half Moon Bay's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Willow Glen, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
