Recap: Union County Fightin' Tigers vs. Baker County Wildcats
Even though the Baker County Wildcats scored an imposing 55 points on Friday, the Union County Fightin' Tigers still came out on top. Union County narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Baker County 58-55. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Union County.
Leading Union County to victory were Thomas Williams and Gavin Jenkins. Williams scored 21 points along with five assists and five steals, while Jenkins scored 21 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Jenkins also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Cam Paytee, who scored five points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Union County now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Baker County, their loss was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union County is on the road again on Saturday and play against Fort White at 7:30 p.m. on December 16th. Fort White presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Union County in Florida (Fort White is ranked 134th, while Union County is ranked 463rd). As for Baker County, they will head out on the road to face off against Rickards at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Rickards has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 276 points over their last four matchups.
