Soccer Game Preview: Avondale vs. St. Mary's Prep

The Avondale Yellowjackets will head out to square off against the St. Mary's Prep Eaglets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Avondale fell victim to West Bloomfield and their airtight defense on Monday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lakers. Avondale have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Meanwhile, St. Mary's Prep also failed to score in their most recent game. They fell 2-0 to Notre Dame Prep on Monday. The loss continues a trend for St. Mary's Prep in their meetings with Notre Dame Prep: they've now lost three in a row.

Avondale's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10-2. As for St. Mary's Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7-3.

Avondale beat St. Mary's Prep by a goal in their previous matchup back in August of 2018, winning 2-1. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Eaglets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
