Preview: Mission Viejo Diablos vs. Aliso Niguel Wolverines

The Mission Viejo Diablos will head out on the road to take on the Aliso Niguel Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mission Viejo is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.

Mission Viejo pushed their score all the way to 67 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 78-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of El Toro.

Despite the defeat, Mission Viejo saw an underclassman step up: Austin Whitehead scored 20 points. Another player making a difference was Alexander Frost, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.

Meanwhile, Aliso Niguel strolled past the Chargers with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 62-44. Given Aliso Niguel's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 204th, while the Chargers are ranked 502nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mission Viejo has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-18 record this season. As for Aliso Niguel, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-7.

Mission Viejo came up short against the Wolverines when the teams last played last Wednesday, falling 49-42. Can Mission Viejo avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
