Bay Path RVT came into this matchup off a tough 18-run loss on Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Millbury by a score of 7-5 on Wednesday. The Minutemen have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Savannah Steiner made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Bella Sepulveda was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Uxbridge strolled into their game on Wednesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They never let Northbridge get on the board and left with an 18-0 win. Give the Spartans' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.
Erin O'Day was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Emma Peloquin and Gabriela Belanger did most of the damage at the plate: Peloquin went 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs, while Belanger fired off four runs, four doubles, and two RBI while going 4-for-4. Those four runs gave Belanger a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bailey Dzivasen, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Uxbridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Uxbridge's victory was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Bay Path RVT, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.
Bay Path RVT's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's contest. The Minutemen have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game.
