Baseball Recap: Midway Comes Up Short

Midway fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against South Johnston on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the South Johnston Trojans by a score of 3-2. The Raiders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Trojans earlier this season, when they won 4-3.

Midway saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wilson Mayo, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. The dominant performance also gave Mayo a new career-high in hits (two). Wesley Tew was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.

Midway's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for South Johnston, the win also got them back to even at 1-1.

Coming up, Midway is taking a road trip to face off against Triton at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The last four games Midway has played (dating back to last season) have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for South Johnston, they will square off against Wake County HomeSchool at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
