Rock Academy hasn't had much luck against Calvin Christian recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Warriors will take on the Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. Rock Academy is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.
Rock Academy proved they can win big two weeks ago (they won by 11) and two weeks ago they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Army-Navy, sneaking past 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Rock Academy has posted since March 7th.
Quentin Uhland was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Connor Prunk was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Calvin Christian's offense. They fell just short of Foothills Christian by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. The Crusaders haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Calvin Christian saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cole Souders, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Zach Gordon also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.
Rock Academy's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Calvin Christian, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-2.
Calvin Christian's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Rock Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. It's a different story for Calvin Christian, though, as they've only averaged .257. Will they be able to contain Rock Academy's hitters?
Rock Academy couldn't quite get it done against Calvin Christian in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 8-4. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
