League recap: Corinth Holders' Lewis delivers best pitching performance from past week

2A Northern Carolina league recap: 3/13/13

Jake Lewis was the best pitcher in 2A Northern Carolina this week, leading Corinth Holders. Over the past week, he had one win and eight Ks.

First place in the standings of the league is up for grabs this week, as Northwest Halifax sits tied atop the standings with Roanoke Rapids.

Corinth Holders' pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing five hits and one walk to lead the league in both categories.

The league boasted five .400 hitters over the past week. Leading the pack was Dakota Amant, who hit .667 by going 4-for-6.

Corinth Holders' Lewis led the league in strikeouts this week with eight. He's third in the league with 12 total strikeouts.



Lewis led Corinth Holders to a win on March 7, as he notched eight strikeouts to beat Smithfield-Selma, 3-2. Over seven innings of work, he gave up five hits and two runs.

Jacob Price drove in four runners as North Johnston defeated Goldsboro 14-6 on Tuesday. He went 3-for-3 and scored three runs.
