Basketball Recap: Columbine Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Seth Hickman and Dyson Boykin

Columbine was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Arapahoe Warriors, falling 68-48. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while the Warriors are ranked 11th).

Columbine's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Dyson Boykin, who posted ten points, and Seth Hickman, who had nine points. Matthew Kossik was another key player, putting up three points and three steals.

Miles McMonigle was his usual excellent self, going 6 of 10 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals for Arapahoe. Those 25 points gave McMonigle a new career-high. Nico Pullas also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Columbine's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Arapahoe, they pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home.

Columbine will welcome Ralston Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Ralston Valley's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Arapahoe, they will head out on the road to challenge Cherokee Trail at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cherokee Trail is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.5 points per game this season.
