Basketball Recap: Eldred Yellowjackets vs. Chester Hambletonians
After flying high against Tuxedo last Friday, Eldred came back down to earth. The Eldred Yellowjackets opened the new year with a less-than-successful 59-47 loss to the Chester Hambletonians. The Yellowjackets haven't had much luck with the Hambletonians recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Several Yellowjackets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was James Deyermond, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Deyermond's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Koen McGill, who went 5 of 6 on his way to 10 points and eight rebounds.
Eldred's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-2. As for Chester, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eldred will head out to take on Livingston Manor at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Eldred is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.8 points per game this season. As for Chester, they will venture away from home to face off against Sullivan West at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
