Basketball Recap: GVCS Broadfording Falls to Frederick W in First Game of Season

GVCS Broadfording unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 75-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Frederick W Warriors on Monday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

Despite the loss, GVCS Broadfording still got an impressive performance from Nashon Mann, who shot 53% from the field on his way to 20 points and three steals. Mann has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Fernando Garcia, who posted 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals.

The win (which was Frederick W's fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-2.

Looking ahead, GVCS Broadfording and Heritage Academy will face off at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest, having both just played. As for Frederick W, they and Rosedale Christian Academy will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest, having both just played. The Warriors will be up against the Rosedale Panthers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 66 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
