Baseball Recap: Brown Beats Doss for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Brown put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let the Doss Dragons get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. While the Bears didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-10), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Quinn Gallagher made a big impact no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 5.5 strikeouts per game. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Oscar Wright was a standout: he scored three runs and stole six bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Wright is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Jamison Calloway, who scored three runs and stole six bases while going 1-for-2.

Brown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive games.

Brown pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Doss, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brown will face off against Atherton at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Doss, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on DeSales at 5:30 p.m. on April 7.
