Basketball Recap: Eldon Comes Up Short

Eldon has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 72-61 to the Buffalo Bison on Thursday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Mustangs came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while the Bison are ranked 284th).

Despite the defeat, Eldon saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kaydin Davis shot 40% from the field en route to 32 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. With that strong performance, Davis is now averaging an impressive 15.8 points per game. Corin Davis was another key player, putting up seven points and nine boards.

Eldon's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Buffalo, the win was their first on the road, bumping their record up to 4-7.

Eldon and Buffalo will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Mustangs see the court they'll take on St. Elizabeth at 6:00 p.m. on the 30th. As for Buffalo, their break will end when they face Forsyth at 6:00 p.m. on the 27th.
