Softball Game Preview: Hixson Wildcats vs. Whitwell Tigers

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Hixson Wildcats take on Whitwell Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hixson's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three matches, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Having struggled with six losses in a row dating back to last season, Hixson turned things around against Grace Baptist Academy on Monday. They never let the Golden Eagles get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted since April 23, 2024.

Hixson's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Landry Bruggink, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Whitwell lost 17-8 to North Jackson on Tuesday. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Chiefs recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Whitwell now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Hixson, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Hixson took their win against Whitwell in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 19-9. Will Hixson repeat their success, or does Whitwell have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
