Football Recap: Stagg Comes Up Short

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Stagg's offense. They were outmatched by the Ripon Indians and fell 27-0. While losing is never fun, the Delta Kings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 552nd, while the Indians are ranked 275th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ripon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ava Aguirre, who picked up 189 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 60 yards on only six carries. Those 60 rushing yards gave Aguirre a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Phoenix Lucero, who threw for 182 yards and three TDs.

Stagg's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Ripon, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.

Looking ahead, Stagg will face off against McNair at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Ripon, they will take on Chavez at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
