East Central waltzed into their contest on Friday with 13 straight wins... but they left with 14. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Stone Tomcats. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-1 last Tuesday.

Breyona Tanner made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Tanner wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kailee Lawson, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI. Angelina Gutierrez was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

East Central hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 11 consecutive matchups.

East Central pushed their record up to 20-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Stone, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-9.

Looking ahead, East Central will take on Neshoba Central at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Stone, they will face off against Laurel at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
