Baseball Recap: Skyview Has No Trouble Against Adams City

After losing to Adams City the last time they met, Skyview decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Wolverines put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 11-4 win on Thursday. With that victory, the Wolverines brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Isaiah Rodriguez made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, Andrew Casillas was a standout: he went 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Kevin Gutierrez also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Skyview has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Adams City, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-4.

Looking ahead, Skyview will take on Overland at 11:00 a.m. on the 26th. The Trailblazers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.23 runs per game on average), something the Wolverines will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Adams City, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-0 victory against Gateway on the 22nd.
