Volleyball Recap: Lumberton Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Lumberton came tearing into Friday's contest with four straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Vidor Pirates as they made off with a 3-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in September.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Lumberton was: they took every set by at least 13 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-11, 25-11.

Despite the loss, Vidor still got an impressive performance from Loghan Matherne, who had 27 digs. Matherne is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last 12 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tylen Cassell, who had eight digs and three assists.

Lumberton's win bumped their record up to 34-6. As for Vidor, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 18 of their last 20 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-29 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Lumberton is set to face off against their familiar foe Little Cypress-Mauriceville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Vidor will challenge rival West Orange-Stark at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
