Softball Recap: Norwell Has No Trouble Against East Noble

Norwell barely beat East Noble the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Norwell blew past East Noble 10-2 on Wednesday. Norwell might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

Kayla Watkins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Reese Frauhiger, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Makayla Young, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Norwell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Noble only posted an OBP of .345.

Norwell is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7.3 runs. As for East Noble, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Norwell will host Carroll at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for East Noble, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran at 5:00 p.m. The Knights are facing the Cadets at the right time seeing as the Cadets are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
