Football Recap: Hoopeston/Armstrong Takes a Loss

Hoopeston/Armstrong extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 0-5. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 27-22 heartbreaker at the hands of the Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman Buffaloes. Hoopeston/Armstrong was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Hoopeston/Armstrong lost, don't look at Nicholas Cardenas. Despite the final result, he rushed for 95 yards and one TD, and also threw for 30 yards and one touchdown.

Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 3.2 yards per carry. The team can thank RaSiah Jones for the heroic effort on defense: he. Hoopeston/Armstrong's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.8.

As for Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman, they moved to 2-3 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was William Runyan, who picked up 187 receiving yards and three scores. The Buffaloes also got a significant boost from Alex Wade, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 99 yards.
