Softball Recap: Pioneer Has No Trouble Against Evergreen Valley

Pioneer barely beat Evergreen Valley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 15-2 margin over the Cougars on Thursday. Considering the Mustangs' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Cara Goodrich and Olivia Krump did most of the damage at the plate: Goodrich earned three runs and two stolen bases, while Krump went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave Krump a new career-high. Riley Nevins also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Pioneer's record is now 5-12. As for Evergreen Valley, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-9 record.

Coming up, Pioneer is taking a road trip to take on Piedmont Hills at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Evergreen Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Presentation at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
