Basketball Recap: Cumberland Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Cumberland proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 44) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Okaw Valley Timberwolves 46-43. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pirates have posted since December 19, 2024.

Cumberland's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cameron Roedl, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 16 points. Reed Miller was another key player, putting up nine points and five boards.

The win (which was Cumberland's sixth in a row) raised their record to 13-8. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.2 points per game. As for Okaw Valley, with the loss, they broke their ten-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-9.

Cumberland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 46-41 victory against Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond on the 25th. As for Okaw Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-37 win against Cerro Gordo/Bement on the 25th.
