Baseball Game Preview: Blue Island Eisenhower Cardinals vs. Richards Bulldogs

Blue Island Eisenhower is 2-8 against Richards since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Cardinals will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m.

Blue Island Eisenhower is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Friday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Chicago Christian.

Bernabe Astorga was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Richards' rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Thursday. They never let Bremen get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Richards has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Blue Island Eisenhower, their loss dropped their record down to 8-20.
