Baseball Game Preview: Gonzaga Prep Bullpups vs. University Titans

Gonzaga Prep and University are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. Gonzaga Prep will be playing at home against University at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Gonzaga Prep is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Shadle Park with a sharp 11-1 victory on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Bullpups with their most commanding win of the season.

Cole Harvey looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Anthony Karis was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Briggs Beaudoin was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Gonzaga Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, University entered their tilt with Ferris on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Saxons. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 21, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Gonzaga Prep pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for University, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

Gonzaga Prep might still be hurting after the 15-7 defeat they got from University in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can Gonzaga Prep avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
