Baseball Recap: Zephyrhills Comes Up Short

After soaring to 13 runs the game before, Zephyrhills was a bit more limited in their contest on Wednesday. They lost 11-1 to the East Lake Eagles.

Zephyrhills saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Opperman, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Opperman is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Zephyrhills has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for East Lake, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Zephyrhills will square off against Chamberlain at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mighty Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Storm have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season. As for East Lake, they will face off against Calvary Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 2.4, the Warriors 1.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
