Softball Recap: Llano Sets Scoring Season-High Against Florence

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Llano). They put the hurt on the Florence Buffaloes with a sharp 18-7 win on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Yellowjackets considering their two-run performance the match before.

Emilie Clopton was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Morgan Williamson was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Clopton wasn't the only one making solid contact: Llano kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for the Yellowjackets: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 10.4.

Llano's victory bumped their record up to 7-14. As for Florence, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Llano beat the Buffaloes by a score of 31-16 on Friday.
