Baseball Game Preview: Lawrence Academy Spartans vs. Worcester Academy Hilltoppers

The Lawrence Academy Spartans will take on the Worcester Academy Hilltoppers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Lawrence Academy will be strutting in after a victory while Worcester Academy will be coming in after a defeat.

On Thursday, Lawrence Academy beat St. George's 6-1. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Dragons recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Lawrence Academy got a great performance from John Paone as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Paone has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Charlie Beauregard was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Daniel Nuti was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Worcester Academy faced Dexter Southfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Hilltoppers came up short against Dexter Southfield, falling 6-0. The Hilltoppers just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Worcester Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Liam Daly, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Lawrence Academy's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Worcester Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8-1.
