Softball Game Preview: Mather Rangers vs. Von Steuben Panthers

The Mather Rangers will take on the Von Steuben Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Von Steuben will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Mather extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday. Everything went the Rangers' way against Holy Trinity as they made off with a 15-1 win. The Rangers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by seven runs or more this season.

Mather's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jocelyn Carmona, who went 2-for-3 with three runs. Those three runs gave Carmona a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Von Steuben might've scored the first runs on Monday, but it was Senn who claimed the real prize. The Panthers lost 29-18 to the Bulldogs. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Annayeli Blanco led a balanced group of hitters, getting on base in all six of her plate appearances with six stolen bases and four runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Margaret Roche, who went 3-for-5 with four stolen bases, six RBI, and one run.

Mather's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Von Steuben, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.

Everything went Mather's way against Von Steuben in their previous meeting back in March, as Mather made off with a 14-5 victory. Will the Rangers repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
