Recap: Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Indians vs. Catholic Central Crusaders
After flying high against the Notre Dame Bishop Gibbons Golden Knights last Friday, the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Indians came back down to earth. Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk fell 62-52 to the Crusaders on Friday. While losing is never fun, Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 434th, while the Crusaders are ranked sixth).
Leading Catholic Central to victory were Xavjon Arroyo and Sei'Mir Roberson. Arroyo scored 20 points along with four steals, while Roberson scored 26 points along with six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Arroyo has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Qwameik Smith, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.
Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Catholic Central, the victory (which was their 15th in a row) raised their record to 15-1.
Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk will be playing at home against the Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Catholic Central, they will head out on the road to face off against the Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lansingburgh is on a eight-game streak of home wins, the Crusaders a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
