Volleyball Recap: Winter Springs Comes Up Short at Home Against Oviedo + How To Watch

Winter Springs unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Oviedo Lions on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The loss continues a trend for the Bears in their meetings with the Lions: they've now lost five in a row.

While Winter Springs was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-12, 25-23.

Lianna Pena paced Winter Springs' offense, picking up five kills. Pena got some help from Hailey Shorkey and her four assists. Finally, Reese Fernandez kept Winter Springs' defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Winter Springs didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 victory against Academy of Central Florida National on the 21st. As for Oviedo, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Seminole on the 21st.
