Basketball Recap: New York School for the Deaf Takes a Loss

New York School for the Deaf was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 39-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lexington School for the Deaf Blue Jays. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Golden Tornadoes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 34-18 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why New York School for the Deaf lost, don't look at Jhostin Zacarias. Despite the final result, he posted 13 points. The dominant performance gave Zacarias a new career-high in points.

Among those leading the charge was Shawn Giles, who had 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Juan Valdez, who scored six points.

New York School for the Deaf's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Lexington School for the Deaf, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-6 record.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Non Varsity Opponent the next time they take the court. Lexington School for the Deaf will head out to face Non Varsity Opponent at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while New York School for the Deaf will play them later in the day, at 3:30 p.m.
