Soccer Recap: Georgetown Day Comes Up Short

Georgetown Day faced Sidwell Friends in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Quakers who were credited with the win. The Sidwell Friends Quakers got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to the Georgetown Day Mighty Hoppers' two. Georgetown Day were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Sidwell Friends earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

Georgetown Day's goal came courtesy of Shanez Benyoucef, who's now up to four this season.

Georgetown Day's defeat dropped their record down to 12-3-1. As for Sidwell Friends, their victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3-1.

Georgetown Day wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next match, a 1-0 win against Maret on the 5th. As for Sidwell Friends, they also didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next contest, a 4-0 loss against Potomac School on the 31st.
