Volleyball Recap: Coachella Valley Starts off Right with Win over Rancho Mirage

Coachella Valley gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Rancho Mirage Rattlers. The win continues a trend for the Mighty Arabs in their matchups with the Rattlers: they've now won seven in a row.

While Coachella Valley won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-18, 25-23.

Coachella Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aiyanna Inzunza led the charge by getting 13 digs and two assists. That's the most assists Inzunza has posted since back in September of 2024. Giada Lopez was another key player, getting six aces.

Coachella Valley was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 18 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in six consecutive games dating back to last season.

Rancho Mirage is on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Coachella Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against JW North on the 16th. As for Rancho Mirage, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Indio at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
