Baseball Game Preview: Stillman Valley Cardinals vs. Dixon Dukes & Duchesses

The Stillman Valley Cardinals will square off against the Dixon Dukes & Duchesses at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Having struggled with seven defeats in a row, Stillman Valley turned things around against Ashton-Franklin Center on Saturday. They walked away with a 10-5 win over the Raiders.

Tyson Mannix was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was AJ Slupianek, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs.

Meanwhile, Dixon entered their tilt with Winnebago on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 14-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Dukes & Duchesses, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Jake Whelan, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Brady Feit was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Dixon's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Stillman Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 5-12.

Stillman Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Dixon in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. Do the Cardinals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dukes & Duchesses turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
