Softball Recap: Hillsdale Takes a Loss

Hillsdale had lost nine straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-9 to make it ten. They came up short against the Ida Bluestreaks, falling 15-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hornets of the 13-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2018.

As for Ida, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-7 record this season. The game marked their most dominant victory of the season.

For Ida's part, Alex Haws made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Haws was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Karlee Walentowski was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emily Lambert, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Coming up, Hillsdale is taking a road trip to take on Springport at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ida, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Onsted at 4:00 p.m.
