Basketball Game Preview: Hilton Head Prep Dolphins vs. Hampton County Hurricanes

The Hilton Head Prep Dolphins will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Hampton County Hurricanes at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. Hilton Head Prep is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

Hilton Head Prep saw some tournament action on Saturday. They blew past St. Andrew's 54-15. Given the Dolphins' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 161st in South Carolina, while the Lions are ranked 354th in Georgia), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Courtney Campbell, who posted 22 points along with 12 boards and ten assists. Her morning made it 12 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Erin Cleary was another key player, going 5 of 8 on her way to 16 points.

Hilton Head Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hampton County). They managed a 63-59 win over Colleton County on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hurricanes.

Hampton County's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Hilton Head Prep, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
