Basketball Recap: Silver Creek Takes a Loss

Silver Creek came up into this matchup off a tough 30-point loss last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Longmont Trojans by a score of 58-55 on Thursday. The Raptors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Silver Creek lost, don't look at Luke Schmeeckle. Despite the final result, he posted 19 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Schmeeckle is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Pendergrass, who put up four points.

Even though they lost, Silver Creek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in nine consecutive matches.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Longmont to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joey Foot, who had 12 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Dominic Lombrano was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Silver Creek dropped their record down to 9-11 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Longmont, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-7.

Silver Creek has already played their next game, an 83-78 defeat against Monarch on the 18th. As for Longmont, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 50-35 loss against Horizon on the 18th.
