The most elementary aspect of basketball is scoring and some schools are doing it at grad school level.
Eight girls teams average at least 60 points a game, while two crack 70.
Mesquite leads the way at nearly 80 points a game despite sitting the starting lineup a good portion of most games.
"We know what we want to accomplish; play team basketball night in and night out," Mesquite coach Candice Gonzales said. "Sometimes, we are limited in what we can do out of respect for the other team.
"I feel bad for our girls. It's hard on them because they don't get a chance to show what they can do. But we are getting accustomed to it."
The boys teams have been scoring at a higher rate with nine teams at 70 or above with the top 15 averaging at least 67.5 points.
